THE BES SUMMER ACADEMY (BLOOMSEED SUMMER ACADEMY)

Summertime is always fun and educational for students enrolled in the Bloomseed Summer Academy for children aged 2-10 years of age.

The BES summer academy is usually a one month+ long program that blends academic instruction, character education, practical-life-skills building activities, field trips, STEAM and more. It is designed to help students maintain and expand on the academic, social and emotional progress they made in the prior school year.

At the Academy we have a math program that develops and supports age appropriate, class-level math skills and problem solving for children. If you are concerned that your child’s math skills may have deteriorated over the summer then this program is the answer. We encourage parents to take this opportunity to brush up their children’s math skills right before school starts with an experienced math teacher.

For the younger children we also have a reading and writing program at the academy. This program is designed to keep children reading and writing throughout the summer through a fun, activity-based approach. Building off of each student’s interests, skills and abilities, we will develop skills in reading and writing that support each child’s individual learning. The program will include lots of interesting story reading, while also polishing comprehension, decoding, and fluency skills. The Children will then talk about what they have learnt in an interactive session to demonstrate their learning.

The children at the academy are also engaged in weekly innovative STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) learning experiences. Students work with our experienced STEM teachers and artists to design and produce projects, experiments, and unique art. Themes change weekly and focus on 21st-century skills such as fostering imagination, collaboration, and creativity.
